For two years – two years – I have been in the shackles of curriculum from really fiddling with code.
Dire warning against all those foolish enough to contemplate buying Robert Lafore’s Turbo C++ book: it’ll be an utter waste. At least for those bright enough not to buy one book for learning the basics, then another for the next stage, then another and so on.
Lafore introduces linked lists, mentions BInary Trees and ends it right there.
Herbert Schildt’s C: The Complete Reference is a better buy by a mile. It’s got almost everything most Indian engg. students will need (including hashing) and more. I’m revisiing the Hardware-Oriented C portions in preparation before delving into Silberschatz’s OS Concepts
